Countrail does not collect your data. The developer receives nothing you record in the app. There is no account, no server, no analytics and no advertising, and the app contains no third-party SDKs.
Your journal is kept in the app's own storage on your device:
Countries are worked out on the device from a built-in map of borders. Nothing is looked up online.
Countrail asks for location access only when you choose to turn on automatic recording. With “Always” access, iOS wakes the app after a significant move or when you arrive at or leave a place; the app then records which country you are in. There is no continuous GPS tracking. Location readings never leave your iPhone. You can pause or turn off recording in the app at any time, or withdraw access in iOS Settings — manual trips keep working without it.
If you choose to find trips in Photos, the app reads the date and place of your photos on the device to suggest trips. You can give access to all photos or only selected ones. Images are shown only on your device and are never sent anywhere. Only the trips you confirm are added to your journal.
Deleting the app removes the journal from your iPhone. The trial start date may remain in the Keychain so that the free trial is not repeated; it contains no other information. Backups you saved elsewhere are under your control.
Countrail is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
